Willtry my best to get there, its about 250 miles away but my mum is in Ayrshire so I could always visit her at the same time, fingers crossed x

I received this email today, and you are ALL invited!!!!

Hi Paula

Just a quickie to let you know that Roy (now called Flynn) will be visiting us as Guest of Honour on Sunday 6th December with his soon-to-be adopter and foster-carer Lorri Jackson from Glasgow Vet School. This is timed to co-incide with our Star for Life ceremony (see the website) and the opening of our new Garden of Remembrance. So if you're still up for a trip across to see him (and us!) that'd be the time to do it! Could you maybe put something on the forum in case any other nurses who contributed would like to attend?

Thank you, indeed I am however, if it wasnt for Louise aka Princess Oephelia and those of us who donated, including your good self Scotlass, the story could have been a lot different.

I do hope to get the chance of meeting Roy, one day!!

ROY SAYS THANKS !

I just want to say thanks for your kind support and money that has saved my life. I am feeling much better now and I have heard a rumour that one of the nurses that has been looking after me is going to try to adopt me. The nurse is going to foster me until I am fit and healthy.

If my adoption goes ahead I will encourage my new human to bring me back to the kennels for a visit and hope to meet many of you that helped me.

I hear people saying that I am a celebrity but it is the people that decided to give me this chance and everyone that gave money for my operation that are the real celebrities.

Good news! Lorraine - if you are reading this - thank you!

Tuesday 13th October
Roy's stitches are taken out today, and he is ready for rehab. Happily one of the senior nurses Lorraine has offered to foster Roy with a view to adopting him, and we are delighted! He will need extra TLC for the next few weeks and who better to give it. We will still be responsible for the costs of his checkups until he is signed off by the vet school and his adoption is complete. Hopefully he will come down for a press call when he is a little fitter.

Friday 09th October
Roy's surgeon is now much happier with his progress. It is now thought that he most likely had a post-operative blood clot in his lungs, which led to the right-sided cardiac failure, and would explain the timing of it occurring. The good news is that as he is recovering, there should be no long-term ill-effects. He will remain in hospital until the surgeon is 100% happy with him, but the prognosis is now much better.

Thursday 08th October
The positive energy being sent by all Roy's friends appears to be working, as he continues to improve. He is eating today and a lot brighter. His heart is still not working the way it should but it is coping with the aid of medication. Everyone is very pleased to see the improvement - let's hope this trend continues.

WEDS 7TH a.m. - today's call was a little more encouraging. Although Roy is by no means out of the woods yet, he is a little brighter, his heart rate is better, and he managed to go outside for a little wee! He has captured the hearts of all the staff at Glasgow who are caring for him, and if he could be willed to get better, he'd be fighting fit already! Watch this space with everything crossed for Roy.
