Here here. The justice system is so wrong at times! Poor poor cat. How long before this beast carries it out again "because she was drunk" Lets hope that next time she shoots it the wrong way and gets herself

Tameside magistrates heard that she admitted shooting the cat straight away, telling officers: "I did it last night when I was drunk."

What sort of excuse is being drunk? She could not have been that drunk to have hit the cat and killed it.

I could not believe this when I read it, I know of cats being shot with airguns but never cross bows. I used to do archery when I was younger and there was no requirements to a licence for that.

And their lawyers will get them off, the police will get it in the neck when it is not their fault and the scum will carry on doing what they are doing. The do gooders will wring their hands and say we must not be so harsh the scum have had hard lives.

Sure Maria feel free. Not really seen this thing in practice for a while, but I've been in referral setting for many years now.

People shouldnt be able to walk into shops and buy these deadly weapons, althou i kno that most people don't go around shooting animals with them. They should make an esample of this truely evil woman!

I saw this in The Sun today (i was in a waiting room, nothing else to read!!!) it said she was a nursery nurse - hope they sack her! as i said beforse if she can so this to an animal whats to stop her doing this to a person/child and as Nick pointed out there's a link between serial killers and animal deaths!

should need a license for all weapons IMO

I never had a licence for the cross bow I had (albeit quite a few years ago) and was never asked for one - as far as I know there is no licensing for these , never had to demonstrate any kind of proficiency or responsibility just walked in the shop and handed over the cash. The only concession to safety was the shop owner asking me if I wanted to buy something to carry it in so people couldnt see what I was carrying around when I left his shop (was a gun shop as well). The internet has made it even easier now - many are ordered online

Have seen some horrendous injuries with these - mostly animals (but also 2 humans!) including deer, swans , hares, foxes a badger and cats and dogs - the saddest one was a marsh harrier pinned through her wing to a building , dont know how long she had hung there but we really thought we stood a chance with her - she was dead 2 days later

I feel any weapon capable of firing what is lets face it a lethal projectile should be licensed - and that includes bb guns I have seen a dog with a depressed skull # as a result of one of these.

Last year the housing association in my area spent almost £450,000 repairing windows broken as a result of airguns or bb guns!

how utterly stupid..... used to get wildlife in withthem throught their heads/torsos etc.

they are just as dangerous as guns, should be a law to get a licence on them. If she'd missed the cat and shot a toddleri n the head...???

Crossbows can be bought from Decathlon (there is one just down the road in Stockport) and other similar places sadly.

I agree that things like crossbows and pellet guns are far too easy to get hold of, and when numbskulls like this end up with them it just leads to disaster, usually involving animals or children.

the main problem is it is far too easy to buy crossbows and the like. They are not licenced in any way and there is nothing to say that the person purchasing it and using it is not using it for this kind of stuff. Many crossbows can inflict much more damage than guns which are licensed ( which gives the owner responsibility for their safe storage and useage) - you just wouldnt get somebody firing a licensed gun from a house into a garden or public area unless they were committing some sort of crime and they wanted to find themselves locked up or in bother with the police).

I feel sorry for the cat and also the cat owner - dont know if his 'delightful' neighbours have been moved on but if they havnt imagine what his life will be like if he has to still live near them.
