Uterilsing what they got, maybe using questionairs etc.....

Re: reality tv

Yes I agree Nick - the idea behind it wasnt to slate the bad practices/ struggling practices, just to help get them back on track to providing what the client wants and maybe making them happier places to work into the bargain - that way everybody is a winner

I believe there are quite a number of us out there that could provide a positive contribution towards this.

I keep hearing vets dont make good managers /arent qualified to be managers/ dont make good business people (from vets) - great so some of them have realised that. Now that the realisation has dawned instead of continuing to use the statement as an excuse then for gawds sake do something about it! - and that doesnt mean employing somebody from a totally different industry who doesnt know a**e end from their elbow about the veterinary world and expected them to sort out the mess

Cant afford it. Another excuse. If the practice is struggling as much as some of the vets would have us believe - well they cant afford not to!

yes Mrs Dot Dot there are a number I would like to start with but that would show bias so would start with the first practice nominated by its clients

wasnt exactly planning it along the RCVS practice standards scheme which after all is a voluntary scheme and there are already inspectors in place for this - thought about it more on the terms of primarily how the public rate their practice ( what is more important? to keep the RCVS happy or to keep your clients happy - remembering it is their patronage that keeps the practice afloat. In an ideal world it would be both - but sometimes I feel the clients are not given a good deal. A practice could be whatever tier you like but if the clients perception is that it wouldnt be a practice they would take their pets just what is the tier worth?) and secondary how the staff rate their practice - if they dont rate it highly chances are the clients wont either , non verbals can be very telling!. Happy staff on the whole = happier clients. So I would see it as a sort of a cross between secret shopper and practice motivator - working on two levels.
