I've got a silicone (zylkene) fob watch and it's great! and everyone keeps saying how nice it looks.
and you can easily drop, bump it or get stuck to a cubboard or animal as it is nice and rubbery and gives way.

I do have to say I generaly keep it loose in my pocket so little chance of washing it...

I had the Me to You bear one from argos till it broke. Now have the minnie mouse one holding a little stethoscope, from argos, lol. Cost a tenner and still going well.

I was reading this post the other day thinking how i'd managed to get through 10 years of nursing without ever putting my fob watch through the wash.......then what did i go and do last night......you guessed it and now my fob watch is no more, serves me right i guess!

My nurses badge has been thru the wash ? times..... The red enamel arounf the edge is sadly, quite chipped

The only fob watch that I've had that has lasted a decent time is the one given to me by Royal Canin when I did the PHC course My VN badge on the other hand is always going through the wash as I often forget it, but has coped well!

Sorry Tinky, I wasnt having a go or anything, I was just saying how I remember everything next day - I have forgotten at times too, washed a pen in my unform the other day and it has left an awful mark

I normally do remove everything from my uniform, but everyone forgets something sometimes... and when you're not used to having a watch attached, it makes it even more likely that you'll forget. And I don't have a car to leave it all in

I'm on my second one cos my first one broke after being washed a couple of times! I generally have a routine of emptying pockets and taking watch off and putting it all on my dressing table when i take my uniform off, then it's all together for the next morning. It's only when something breaks that routine that it gets washed!

When I qualified a long number of years ago my Merial territory manager gave me one as a gift, it did go through the wash though and I had to bring it to a jewellers for repair which cost about twelve pounds I think. Mine has sentimental value though.

Why not just make a conscious effort to remove it before washing you uniform though? Surely that makes more sense? When I am on my way home from work in the evenings, I normally remove everything in the car - pens, scissors, fob watch etc and then it is still in the car for the next morning

My other half has gone out and got me one after I was whinging about needing one that will survive being washed! It's water resistant up to 50m, so I think it'll do just fine!

I have had this one for years! been through washes at least twice a week! works fine still! just a tip though when you get your battery changed the watch looses any previous water resistance it had.

i got a fab one with my name engraved in it when I left my last practice but i dont know where they got it from. sorry this doesnt help very much at all!!

My Eeyore one has survived a good few washes

They are good until you have to replace the battery and then its never as waterproof as before!

I had the eeyore one from argos and that went through the washing machine and survived! Got the minnie mouse one now!
