Ive seen nurses and receptionsits with visable tattos. Im not sure he couldr eally stop you... It could against your 'human rights' ;-) Looking at it from your bosses point of view he probably want very conforming staff and if they relax on one thing i guess they might think youll think they will relax more

We have a definate no visable piercing / tat rule. In the pre employment info given out. Face piecings need to be removed & tats covered (with dressings if nec) while at work. Check out your contract.

We also don't allow nail varnish or ear / finger rings. Most poeple who don't like the face jewles don't complain. they just go some where else.

My wrist tattoos hurt less than the ones on my shoulders and back did, hardly felt them, but they are on the side of my wrist so inside might be different. The pain is different for each person though. I was so prepared for the one on my neck to be unbearable after having the one on my lower back (up my spine) but I didn't feel it at all for most of it.

How painful is the tattoo on inner wrist - i don't have any others, am I mad going for this place first? Also would emla do anything to help with the pain?...

I have 7 tattoos, 3 of them are visible when i'm at work. I have pawprints on each wrist, which not many people comment on but when they do, they seem to like them. Although one person said 'good thing your not doing anything else then isn't it?', not sure wether that was a compliment or not. I also have a star on the back of my neck, which im not sure if people have noticed or not.

I don't wear my earrings while im at work, mainly due to nearly having one ripped out by a bird when doing work experience at a zoo a while ago. I did have my lip pierced but took it out coz I was asked to not wear it at work. Ended up leaving it out because I couldn't be bothered to keep taking it out for work.

Ive got my name on my inner wrist.. u can see it when im holding animals ect.. but no1 has ever commented on it..

i have 2 , 1 of which is covered by my uniform, the other is on the back of my neck (going down my spine) so very visable. no clients have ever commented and staff once they had noticed it don't ever say anything about it. we had this in our practice recently as to whether the bosses minded and the general feeling was 'as long as its not offensive ( pics or words) then its up to the individual.

Hahaha, I once asked an employer if I cwould be allowed to have my eyebrow pierced- the answer was a big NO! Quite hysterical as they had a locum vet with an eyebrow piercing and nothing was said! Talk about double standards.

One of the nurses I work with has got a tattoo on the inside of her wrist and it's never been a problem.

I have quite a few tatoos, and have 3 stars on my hand just above my thumb, also my eyebrow pierced, I have had no problem with them from employers or clients x

I have a celtic band round my wrist & just wear my watch over it when on reception, so if its coverable cant see an issue.

I personally am fairly careful about where my tattoos go and try to make sure they are mainly covered by my uniform, as long as i dont have to go back to wearing a dress my new one will be fine LOL

I have one on my upper arm, the sleeve of my scrubs doesnt completely cover it, anyone who has seen it has liked it, no problems.

I think the days of tattoos showing the wrong image has long passed - or should have at least.

Had the dog warden in our practice today and her arms were covered by tattoos

I have a big(ish) tattoo on my upper forearm and no one has ever seem offended by it at all. Usually it's little old ladies that comment on it and they think it's "pretty". I also have a tiny heart on my other wrist and I don't think anyone's even noticed it. And I have my nose pierced.

Do people still even get offended by tattoos anymore?? Surely not.

I have one exactly where you want one and my clients either dont notice it or are really interested in it. Had it when I started here along with my nose piercing and nobody minds.

I have 5 tattoos but they are covered by my uniform. Just about to get my 6th one done.
