wow thats a lot of money!! do people put sheep up for stud like they do horses or will he only be used on the farmers own sheep?

I find the people that pay for pigeons are crazy. ok they may use them to breed but FFS>>>

A racing pigeon called "Invincible Spirit" was bought by Louella Pigeon World in 1992 for $132,000. Another pigeon reportedly broke that record by selling for $225,000.

I remember a very expensive blackie tup was sold on the farm (foot n mouth years) was having his picture taken for publication in the scottish farmer,unfortunately he tried to jump over a fence n broke his neck. eeeeeek!

Yep you can buy all these expensive animals to breed with n still only end up with mince!

When I worked in Glasgow, we had a bull which was bought by a syndicate of farmers for over £50,000. He then slipped when doing the business and broke his willie!! Not much good as a bull for a long time after that!

I havent seen pictures of him so difficult to say, Id imagine he was off a well bred line,good crcass,good skin,great breed example, but it is a serious amount of money! Iwouldnt be able to sleep at nights- the lamb would need to be in the house or under c.c.t.v surveilance!

Its little wonder people utter the phrase 'you never see a poor farmer'! As exciting as it is it gives the general public the wrong impression of the farming industry.

Being a non-farming person, what makes the sheep/ breed so special?
