Glad we helped x

Re: Baby Squirrel help!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I have found a lady who lives locally that hand rears wildlife so she came to collect it this afternoon.

I know grey squirrels are supposed to be euth'd but felt I couldn't really make that decision as it was thriving and I live in London (taking Snowb's post in consideration re red squirrels) so I thought it deserved a fair go!

Anyway thanks again for the advice and back up, what an incredibly valuble forum!

We fed him on litterlac through a bottle then when he was a bit bigger dog biscuits and rusks! We have a good wildlife book at work and this is what was recommended. Though have since heard that goats milk is better for them.

We named our squirrel 'Crunchie' and he went to live with one of the nurses boyfriend in his garden. Lived there for about 2 years and used to sit on his shuolder eating biscuits until he disapeared one day and never came back

We used to have a man that trapped squirrels and brought them to us knowing we had to ots, was very sad.

Re: Baby Squirrel help!

yes its a pity they are classed as vermin in some areas as we will never be able to totally eradicate them, enabling the red to re-colonise... so why pts? however i personally think its justified to pts in areas where the red has hung on or is an ideal habitat for them to be released into. but suppose it all depends on what part of the country your from, i'm round london way and unfortunatly i dont think we'll ever see the red back here imo

Re: Baby Squirrel help!

Sadly, they are classed as vermin so they should be euth'd.....
I'm very sorry to having to say this but if it is a grey squirrel you will have to PTS it as you are not allowed to release it in nature...
I know that is not what you wanted to hear but otherwise I have no idea...
Maybe contact a local wildlife centre?

Good luck!

BTW. welcome!
