Does Anyone have any advice with this drug?
Im rehoming a 2yr old collie of a couple who have had a baby, they dont have the time for her, She is absolutely adorable and I feel perfect for me but im a little concerned how she will settle in

Re: Zylkene

Im just reading this thread back and realised I never followed up how I have got onwith the Zylkene.

Cocoa came to me as planned on the 7th Sept and was as I predicted a little 'stressy' I put her on 1 tablet BID when she arrived and kept her on them for 2 weeks reducing to 1tablet SID in week three and then one tablet every other day for 1 week.

I was amazed by the results, after 2-3 days she had settled completely, no whining in the night and really settled (however, this could have been because she has come to such a fantastic home

Once off the tablets I have noticed she is more alert of noises outside and is more 'sniffy' on walks.

I still dont know if it was the Zylkene or contentment that settled her so quickly but I would definately reccomend to others

She is the best dog now and I cant imagine not having her already!

I have used it for one of my neurotic basket cases (lab x collie, separation anxiety type issues) and it definitely helps. To be honest the 1st time I thought "coincidence, would have got better with time anyway, etc" but when I took him off the zylkene his behaviour deteriorated and then improved again when I put him back on it. When I need to use them I generally find a loading dose for the first couple of days works really well. I give twice the guideline amount for 1-2 days and then drop down to the recommended dose. Fab product!

I have also used in on myself with some success!!! The product was/still is a product designed for human use but it is actually cheaper to buy the dog version for yourself. However, it works out considerably more expensive for humans to use. I used two large dog tablets s.i.d. but it works out about £60/month which I couldn't afford longterm but I would/do use it for short term stressors. have several articles on the use of this product in human anxiety/stress which I can email interested parties. If you do want a copy give me your email address and I'll send them to you.

Re: Zylkene

I used Zylkene on my SBT as suggested by a behaviourist when he became fearful of traffic after a car hit a pillar as we were walking past. After the incident walking him was very difficult as he would refuse to walk along roads because he was so terrified. With the use of Zylkene and some training he is now almost back to normal, he's a bit jumpy with loud vehicles but is back to enjoying his walks without being a trembling wreck.

Re: Zylkene

Thankyou for all your advice, it is really helpful, It's an area im not 'up on' so its great to hear everyones experiences
