I did a 2 week horseback safari in Kenya through campfire adventures, defintely a once in a lifetime experience. Safari is fab. Defintely do it if you can. Don't know about SA though. I flew Kenya airways - very good service.

This may be useful is off nat geo. And l agree with all Shane said. Also for food try some biltong, boerwors, drywors, melktart, koeksusters (very very rich buy 1 at a time) pronutro, maltabela, the currys are meant to be good except l can not eat spicy food.

I have been twice, we went cape town to jo'burg the first time, and the opposite way the second time

flew with South African airways who were good.

On safari we did Shamwari game reserve again both times and its a really nice place.

Things to do are def Table mountain, Whale watching at Hermanus (in august time), Addo elephant park, nederburg wine vineyards (needless to say i didnt taste the wine as i was too young at the time!)

I also went to Sun city which has casino etc. very good there, port elizabeth is good

I would love to go back, would also love to do a 2 week vn couse out in a game reserve too.

I live here in SA now, been here for 21 years and still not seen the Kruger Park.

Just be careful if you come here. And i dont mean the animals :)

I travelled from South Africa up overland through Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania, done a bit of a mix of chilling out, hardcore travel, and safari, mostly found our own way around but done a 19 day overland tour for the Cape Town to Vic Falls bit and highly recommend it, we went with Acacia, you can check them out at acacia-africa.com who do loads of trips all over africa, reasonably priced and from what we seen out there definately the best organised and value for money. Organised tours are not for everyone, it was my first and last but thoroughly enjoyed it..just have done too much travelling on my own to enjoy sticking to their programme (and early mornings!!)but if your short on time or not wanting to organise stuff yourself Id definately recommend it- great way to meet folk too.

My friend also a VN & myself went to Keyna on safari. we went on a 7 day tour through Massai Mara & several other big parks & ended up in Mombassa. It was brilliant I would go again tomorrow in a flash!. We flew with Keyna airways. Hope this helps?

I used to live in South Africa. Does that count? lol.

You can do the route of being with a tour group, this normally ends up more expensive, or go it alone. Rent a car, book accommodation ahead and travel where you want to go to. It is cheap to do this if you have British Pounds (£1 = 13 something south african rand!)

As for flying with BA: Sorry, I only fly with BA, and have done about 12 Transcontinental flights with them in the past 3 years. Absolute fabulous service and competitive prices.

Things to see in SA:

1. Kruger Park (Worked 2 weeks there once helping out National Parks Board)

2. Hoedspruit Cheetah Reserve

3. Hermanus whale watching (depending of time of year)

4. Table Mountain in Cape Town

5. Shark spotting Table Bay (Near Cape Town, the great whites jump out of the ocean)

6. Cage Diving with Great White sharks in Struisbaai.

Plus many many more things/places to see.

I went in 2006 for 2 weeks. Drove up the garden route from cape town to port elizabeth, saw penguins, whales, ostriches, monkeys, elephants and finished with a 3 day safari just outside of port elizabeth. depsite going in the wetest winter they had had for 80 years I had an amazing time! We flew with SA airways, really good and comfortable (although was supposed to go in 2005 and had to cancel due to air staff strikes!). All in all loved it!!

when doing my HND in Animal Management we went on a two week trip, organised by Zulu Safari

iv never been but my dad lived in malawi for a while working over there. he loved it and the pictures are great.

i recommmend not flying with BA ever, iv heard so many bad things!
