T
o cut a long story short- I got my 'dream job' working as a student VN last year, at a horrible practice. The people were awful to each other (which I think I would've been able to stick out under other circumstances, but my 16yr old

Re: I blew it.

Yes unit certification may be an option-contact your old VNAC (providing you have your old portfolio too) to get their advice on if you could do this. You certainly won't have blown any chances of training and coming back in to practice though. Continue sending your CV to different practices, all VNs will work in rubbish practices at some time, not all will be like that.

I need to pass my exam! Results are soon tho!!

As already said going into a practice mayb a few days a week and collecting evidence might work! Contact your vnac see what they say! Even offer to call all the tps in the area yourself!! If you can get one to agree a few days a week to do this with you then you will be sorted!! level 2 will be all complete and you find a tp for 2nd year! :D

Good luck!!

Re: I blew it.

Just had another idea- get intouch with your vnac and ask if they would be able to find you a TP willing to let you finish your portfolio with them - obviously i doubt they would pay you but even if they were willing to let you go in three days a week to collect evidence to get it finished would be better than nothing! Please dont let your level 1 exams go to waste - you passed your exam thats the hard bit - if you want it fight for it!

Re: I blew it.

Hi, sorry to hear about your sister-hope shes on the mend.
Volunteering sounds a good idea, and as Dinky says you never know what help you might get so defo worth asking re your portfolio.

Please contact your vnac that you were with originally - in some circumstances you can get an extension on you portfolio - explain the situation to them as you never know what help they can give - they may even know of other svn positions available.

Re: I blew it.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Not all places are like that though. good on you for being pro-active and at least you have a plan, do the pharmacy stuff and at least you are able to transfer it for your VN training.

When applying for a trainee post, I would advise you to be honest if queried about why the career choices you made and demonstrate to them that you did the pharmacy part to still enable you to move towards your ultimate goal, which is being a VN.

And just keep on sending your CV when you feel the time is right!
