I just got handed a pigeon and two of them jumped out and tried to have a party in my hair. Literally had to dash away from bemused clients and strip in the next room in case they were in my clothes.

I call them sticky flies too! oh and Vicky...it's STILL in your hair!

OMG !!!! these critters are just awful, they have had the nurses running in our practice. Everytime a pigeon comes in i dread it and feel grose after it. Always waiting for them. They fly directly at you !!!! just when you think its safe, they are there.

i hate these things, just dont look at them down a microscope after using indorex to kill them !!!!!!

OMG Emma, night time attack! I was passed a Frontline spray bottle to kill the blighter yesteday...but didn't know where it'd gone to kill it

Normal flies try to avoid you so I can cope with them, but these chase you round the room, you knock them off and it's like they're attached by elastic. Yuck! Must admit I'd rather deal with maggots!

Hairspray works very well too! (found this by accident)

They're really hard to kill as well. I know several that have survived beating with a shoe! One of my practices kept an old bottle of Nuvan top just to kill flat flies- it was the only thing that worked

I take wildlife home and try to be super careful because I hate the devils!

Imagine my horror when trying to get to sleep last week and one landed on my face.... cue turning the bedroom upside down squealing, confusing the hell out of my other half because I didn't want to explain that it was my wildlife that was the problem!! Oops!

Sticky flies!!!! Thats what we call them... cos they stick to you!!! EWWWW. had one on a baby pigeon the other day, crawled across my cheek, freaked out and had a hissy fit flicking my self around the face and ruffling my hair and..... im feeling itchy just talking about it....

Little buggers to kill, apparantly they have a hard exoskeleton, so a few stamps should kill the little buggers!!!

OMG had another flat fly experience today Went to inject a bird...flat fly went running up my arm! I had a bit of a freak, trying my hardest not to scream the practice down (vet consulting in room next door!)...went back to bird to inject...and flat fly ran ACROSS MY EYE!!! I then had a silent hissy fit doing a dance and shaking my head madly. Didn't find where it went! Am now scared of touching said bird...!

Glad its not only me that freaks!! Had a pigeon brought in the other day, as I got it out of the box to look at it I saw one lurking so put it in a solid fronted kennel quick. Asked boss to look at it for me as couldn't bear to just in case. He said he had never heard of flat flies and think he thought I as being a bit silly - he knws now!!!

I remember having one loose in the reception where I used to work, we were all beng rally pathetic then spotted it sitting on a clients arm, we couldn't bring ourselves to tell them!! We just all disappeared, vet then stamped on it and still the little blighter wouldn't die!

Had an injured kestrel brought in overnight and when I came in this morning it had died.... I picked it up to check and one flew into my hair!!!!! Managed to flick it off and stamp on it but they are tough!! Like fleas! It took a few hard stomps and squishes!!! But... even worse, a couple of hours later was just calling in an admit from waiting room and felt something crawl up my back under my uniform and into my hair and it was another one!! Almost had a complete panic infront of client trying to flick it off, eventually did it and saw it fly off and down behind a radiator!!! Didn't find it........................
