Yeah I watched the film first then read the books which are better than the film. However anything to watch Robert Pattinson for a couple of hours

Really loved the books, disappointed by the film, def watch the film first then enjoy the books!

The Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer?? Granted I think the series is aimed more for teens, but the books are really good and I love the film

Morning,

I love fantasy. Big fan of superhero type films such as Spiderman, X-men and my all time favourite Batman. Maybe I should read the comics? My boyfriend tells me I should but I fear people will laugh if they see me reading them on the bus to work.....

Having said that - I reckon I could get in to a good horror. Hmmm.

In the past I've read biographys which have been interesting (Anthony Keidis, Bob Dylan, Tim Burton & Jackie Chan!) Need to find someone else who would interest me I guess.

So if there are any books that amazed you then please let me know - no matter what they are about. Just want a good read.

I wouldnt rush to watch ps i love you, they totally change the whole script i was really looking forward to watching it but half way through i switched off

A thumbs up for Martina Cole books from me. Another one like her is Mandasue Hellar.

Dan Brown books are good, so far of his i've read Da Vinci Code (yes book is better than film, but film is ok), Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress. I find his books keep me on edge, there are always twists in the stories so you don't really know whats going to happen until the end.

I quite like reading the odd light hearted girly book from time to time when my brain isn't switched on! I liked PS I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. Have got the dvd but not watched it yet...can imagine i will be tearful! Marian Keyes and Shelia O'Flanagan are good too.

SJ have you read his dark materials books??? Really worth a look if you like fantasy! I liked hitch hikers guide to the galaxy too

The films are always a let down after the books esp the ones that u cant wait to see turn out to be crap, if your a fan of Jodi picoult i would recommend not seeing my sisters keeper they changed characters roles and then changed the ending how can they do that its wrong the book was great the twist at the end was the whole point i wanted to see the film and they changed it completley

The films are always a let down after reading the books....... I like James herbert...... and the film the fog was not even a tad like the book!!!!!

Also, not a film but Woman in Black is a fantastic read and the play is just as good! Would recommend this if you haven't seen/read it.

Some of my favourites:

Martina Cole - quite gripping and on the whole you do need a strong stomach (something nurses are fine with!!) They can be quite violent at times, but the stories are good and really well written.

Stephen King - if you like scary books, The Shining and It are both pretty good going

Jodi Picoult - more normal than the other two authors! However the stories can be quite emotive in parts.

Sophie Kinsella - for some fun light reading these books are good. She wrote the Shopaholic series amongst others and are good for holiday/bedtime reads.

Books always tend to be better than the films. Though I liked The Shining, the book is more details and much more scary!

Right - I need to start reading more. Was only thinking that today so whilst on the subject of books can any one recommend any good ones?

Sorry to go off topic there. My boyfriend assures me that a lot of films are nothing like the comics he used to read too. Got the third Spiderman flim all wrong - making Venom not as big or nearly as terrifying as in the film. We both enjoyed it but he said they tried to ram as much in as possible in to just 2 hours and it ruined lots of good characters. Shame really

Yep! Loads of films I've watched after eading the books and felt let down! One in particular was Hannibal!! Read the book, which was amazing! Properly explain why Hannibal the Cannibal did what he did, yet they decided to leave this out of the film!!!

Althou now with the realise of Hannibal Rising it explains it, but thought they could of done some fancy flashback sences or something. Few other bits missed out of the film, which I thought were significant!

Another example is Misery! Althou Kathy Bates is excellent in the title role and the film is good there are still bits that are missed out

I could go on, but I won't...............
