I dont like to hassle l also do not have a lot of faith in them around here. Hence thinking waiting a bit wont make any difference but will speak to hub. I think there is a physio goes to the parachute centre and will ask him if he can ask her advice.

Caro, I am thinking you should probably get it looked about sooner than new year? Consultant said 'up to 6 monhts' and your pain is little or no better.

Thanks for the info Paula l have this ankle killing me since july. It feels like a hot knife driven into it. Was just told at the # clinic .. it isnt broken the nurse prac. made a mistake basically will get better on its own you have strained and probably torn ligaments and some tendons.. goodbye.Before l could ask Q the consultant and his "puppy dog" walked off and shut / locked the door to the next room.

Have been wondering how long is it going to take at least this give me a baseline to things have to say though that coming up to 6months it is about 20% less painful overall but has been like this now for months and no change. I will see how it is in the new year then demand a check up l think as l have no info or idea what is going on with it.

Hey all,

just a little update, saw an orthopaedic surgeon few weeks back and thankfully I have bruising and will not need any surgery etc. He told me the bruising can remain for up to 6 months!

Now, what do you think has happened? I now have a 'fallen arch' as a result of the fall, my foot is completely flat on the ground and I am now awaiting an appt to see a Podiatrist! You wouldnt believe how painful it can be!

Hey Paula.......... poor you I hope you get it sorted soon. I am no expert but I would think if it was a complete rupture you would not be weight bearing on it at all.

Just a thought......... have you been lifting outwith your Remit again Paula??? naught nurse if you have lmao

I have to say I was seen reasonably quickly through the NHS this last time, went to gp after 2 then 3 weeks pain (they like you to be in pain for 6 weeks usually) they wanted to refer me for physio, said felt exactly same as prev complaints and physio no good so wanted to go straight to ortho, they arranged it after another 2 weeks of me nagging and 2 weeks later seen then 2 weeks after that operated on. However I'm sure if you are in that much pain they should rush you through quicker. Just keep nagging them! the receptionist for the ortho tried to give me an appt for 3 weeks later but I said how much pain I was in and they found me a slot earlier. Was no fun walking round BSAVA in so much pain tho

cross fingers it works out l also found out thansk to a friend of mine who is crippled and checked my crutches when l used them they were to low and nhs seems to do that. Try them up a notch on the lower section.I went from ape man position to a lot more comfy

I found out when l went to the # clinic when l came back from the braai that mine was not a hairline # but l had screwed my tendons and ligaments comment was probably some tears going on. I get gripping pains going through my ankle. Seems fine then wham!. main problem l find is stairs

One of my good friends has had numerous knee ops and went private, I believe she was seen within a fortnight, I assume it depends within the area and how many unlucky people have knee problems at the same time I guess. Get a vet at work to repair your cruciate ...after all, it may be cleaner than the NHS and cheaper than private oh and us VN's have fabulous bedside manner hehe

Seriously though, get a consult with a private dr and they should be able to tell you the waiting times to get you fixed up

Because the pain has got a lot worse over this week and is very painful today, I am thinking along the lines of a complete rupture, if it was only partial before.

I am guessing I will be on a long waiting list with nhs if I am referred, do you know if its very quick if you go private, as in the same week?

Sorry to hear about your knee, I hope your ok!

I'm having problems with my knee so I know how debiltiating they can be. Years ago, I fell during a figure skating competition and injured my knee, I experienced the same pain you describe and all ortho specialists I saw thought I had ruptured cruciates, however I had displaced my knee cap and damaged my cruciates. I don't think by the sounds of it that you've displaced your knee cap but the cruciate pain sounds familiar?
