Well I live in Stockport so might down the hat museum and melt some helt hats and breath in the fumes!!! I remember an SVN droping a thermometer and playing around with the stuff!! I was like WTF are you doing?!?!?! I do remember having a mercury maze as a kid think they may be banned now! H&S rearing its ugly head lol

Confusion on my part, apologies. I meant phone call follow up. IME people willing to invest i ££'ss are willing to invest in time and take an active role in their patients treatment. To phone and ask how things are going and enquire w.r.t wounds (within set guidelines) gives both you, as a nurse, and them, as a client - an oppurtunity to give valuable feedback of the service as a whole and improve outcome.

I meant they think its bad enough having to come back on seperate days for surgery from consult/work up and then again 6 weeks. Think we would find it hard to get them to come back for wounds althou its a good idea. I may suggest it

I'm all for more nurse involvement in these cases, all cases in fact. What's to stop you doing a courtsey follow-up a few weeks later to see how things are going? Client: feel like they've benefited further from referral experience, you've gained the information you need.

Yeah that would be good althou dont think many clients would be keen because mainly live far away and think its bad enought that they have to come back for post op rads let alone post op wound checks with a nurse! it would be good to set that kinda thing up but personally because of our situation i dont think it would take off

Taking SSI as an example, where presentation may take 28days+. would your practice support a follow up of all prosthetic surgeries - strictly speaking any suture etc would be considered prosthetic - reality we're talking, implants, hips, elbow, knees... I'm thinking of a nurse follow up with the client to discuss the progress of the wound.

We have an infection control team monitor and document cases that have such infections, althou some slip thru the net as we are referral most end up going back to referring vets and we never hear about them until the 6 week post op rads, if being done.

What??? The RCVS has a scheme which is merely about ticking boxs and has no relation to actual working practice??? Surely not???
