I left it until today and then

Re: Waiting is horrible...

The thing is I have tried to do voluntary work, I was going to give up my job and work part time and do voluntary work part time at a practice. I contacted all my local vets and none were interested in having me doing voluntary work there. I've also applied for an alternate weekend carer at Woodgreen and despite them telling me at the interview that lack of experience didn't matter they then told me they'd given the job to someone with experience

I just sometimes feel like I've left it too late to change my career and I should just give up on it, I work full time and cant give up my job and I dont want to give up all my weekends as after spending all week in a job I hate I need some time to myself. I'm constantly looking for other animal related job to apply for but nothing is coming up.

Veterinary nursing is something I want to do so much but it's just feeling more and more impossible, I stupidly listened to my parents when I was 16 and they said Vet nursing wasn't a good idea and I should go and work in an office, I now know better than to listen to my parents!

Re: Waiting is horrible...

Hi

Good luck with your interview. I would say try and get some veterinary work experience while you are waiting. I had a non-committal response from one interview... until they realised I was doing work experience at a rival practice, and then they were suddenly interested!

All experience is gooood!!!! if you are working, then try and arrange regular weekends with your local practice, or seeing late surgery/emergency work.

Good luck!

Re: Waiting is horrible...

Kirsty,

Good luck with getting this job! However if you don't it really might be worth trying to get a bit more work experience at a vets (I know it's hard if working full time). The only reason I say this is when I went to my uni interview (I did the degree) I had one weeks work experience at a vets and had spent every Sunday for a couple of years at a wildlife hospital and they still requested that I got more work experience at a vets. I thinks it's so they know that you are aware the job isn't all about cuddling puppies and kittens (although it is a very nice part of it!). This will then give you the edge over other candidates

Hope you hear from them soon!

Re: Waiting is horrible...

I had my final interview of 3 with the DWP yesterday I may not find out until November - but may be September if I am lucky .
