Cheers guys for all the replies. I tried filing them..........................OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was worse than clipping she got herself in a right state.

I have used a dremil before on Circe, tried it once on Ruby and it was a def no no.

Saskia- she has only ever had this thing with her foot once before, I actually thought it was berry bug as it was the same time last year she had it, but it's not. Today I took her to work to have her foot looked at, and basically I have to cont to wash with hibi and apply the fuciderm, she has a buster collar on.............the joys! the last time we needed one of those we went through 25 of them... so lets hope we dont have to do that again.

Anyway the foot is much better, and I managed to clip the remaining nails late last night.

Nail files work brilliantly for dogs who don't like their claws being clipped. I use the Mikki one.

thinking about Ruby's ezcema as well Sandra, I wonder if Piriton would be of any use? You can buy the tablets in the chemist.

Ranger, my greyhound is on one tablet a day along with 5mg Prednisolone for red, inflammed itchy skin. He is doing very well - fingers crossed!

Mikki do a dog nail file - basically just like an old fashioned metal nail file but thicker. Dunlops stock them, not sure about any other suppliers tho. We reccomend these to people that come in for nail clips when their dogs claws aren't actually long, just a bit sharp.

Hi Paula, what kind of file are you using? I had thought of it, and though I would need a joiners rasp to be honest lol

this may seem like a silly idea and probably one you have already tried! but my Rosie is the same when it comes to clipping nails, however, she will tolerate me using a nail file to file them down - only for a short while though, like 2 nails per day!!!

Worth a try though!!
