This kind of follows on from "clients with no money", but does anyone know if the RSPCA will give out log numbers to individual clients, or is it only to vet practices. For example, if there is a client that needs emergency OOH treatment

Re: RSPCA Log numbers....

Well in our experience, clients who OWN the animals have been able to call the RSPCA and they have given a number for up to £50 of treatment!
In my experienceit is only wildlife and stray animals you can ge log numbers for when you phone the main RSPCA number. If the animal is owned but they need help with the payment then the local RSPCA branch treasurer needs to be contacted, not useful when its the middle of the night I know! we offer conservative treatment at minimal expense to the onwer (and maximum pain relief for the pet!) until the RSPCA or other local charity can be contacted for funds. Some times if the emergency is extensive and and poor prognosis is given its kinder for euthanasia.

hope this helps

We've always got the member of public to phone as they usually ask for their details.
