I have had a client come into practice after some advice, he has three cats all male (I believe) that have been castrated that are fighting and getting into scrapes with each other. It is mainly the bigger male picking on the others.
Someone asked me to lock this thread, which I will now do. But I have had a skim read of the thread. It's a very good example of how things can escalate for no good reason, just the consequence of the different way in which we all read and react to things.

I do have some sympathy with Lilypads. I guess I thought her first post was quite strong too. Still, I think she's taken a lot of flack she didn't entirely deserve. I mean, she's entitled to make her own choice about what weight she lifts, and whilst others can offer their opinion, she's welcome to disagree, and shouldn't be ripped apart if she does (any more than anyone else should).

Anyway, I will lock this thread as requested. But a reminder to everyone just how important it is to aways give the benefit of the doubt when 'judging' someone's post. You might not agree with them. You might not like their tone. In that case, take a deep breath, smile, and rise above it!

Re: Fighting cats....
Disgusting attitude. I cannot quite believe how many people on this forum care to profess about advancement in VNing and then you get this ridiculously immature, unintellectual remark. What a shame some people let others down

How is defending yourself when people have have a go for no reason a "disgusting attitude"?

My response to the ORIGINAL post was a response to a problem re cats fighting. I'm not a cat behaviourist. If I was a cat behaviourist I would want to know more about the cats and the client before I dished out advice beyond general adv. I feel that rehoming is adv that not on;y affects the cat being rehomed but the cats left behind and also the owner. It's an extremely difficult decision to come to and many variables need to be taken onto consideration.

I have apologised personally to frog and cat for appearing like I was mounting a personal attack against her. That apology still stands. I would like to be froeindly with people on here not attack them.

My advice was based on the sentence I read in first post. It read that feliway had stopped prob in house. I have likened feliway to giving ACP to dog scared of fireworks on bonfire night. The stress trigger is NOT removed, the stress response is. The fact that feliway helped is quite telling as it suggests that there is a stress in the house. I believe in working at animals living together.

As for my suggestion of adding a female cat. As I've said I;ve lived 30 years with a multiple cat household... at least 3 at any one time. I jow have 6 cats, 2 springers. The cats are 2 girls and 4 boys. I don't care what anyone says or has theories on... boy cats live better with at least one girl cat in residence. I'm not prertending to know everything about cats.... I'm simply giving my experiences and I think that experience counts for something. They don;t teach anything about behaviour on VN course. Maybe they should.

As for lifting weights.... surely that's up to the individual.

And as for the comment re me making comments too late at night for people to reply... we don't all work regular shifts!!

I'm not prertending to know everything about cats.... I'm simply giving my experiences and I think that experience counts for something. They don;t teach anything about behaviour on VN course. Maybe they should.

As for lifting weights.... surely that's up to the individual.

And as for the comment re me making comments too late at night for people to reply... we don't all work regular shifts!!

yawn maybe u should partake in a bit of soda lime, can't make u any worse than u already are. What's your problem? Can you not have a normal conversation without resorting to making small talk comments in a bitchy manner? I'm disgusted with some people on here. Some people are really nice, genuine and have a sense of humour. The unfortunate few seem to take any new thing and twist it out of shape and use it as an argument, then relish in the arguments. What good is it doing? I don't care how long anyone has been a member of this site. aren't we all in a common ground? I'm glad I work where I work, don't get any of this cow-ish behaviour. It's disgusting. This is meant to be a common ground for us all. It obviously isn't.

Tell you what ,we have all said what we have said and given you good advice, which you choose to ignore, so instead of picking fights with "your bitchy comment" why dont you go read up on back injuries in the caring profession.......
