sorry guys i didnt check this post til now (a few days later) tbh i knew i didnt want to do that job about 10 mins after i posted the topic lol

ive been to the RAF careers today for my 2nd visit (just presentations and info really and filling out forms) but it is the life style that i want as staying in one place is boring for me, as for being sure about the position i already have a visit booked to see an RAF base near me and a visit to an xray department in an NHS hospital so looking good so far lol

like ive said before it is the one thing ive enjoyed while working as a nurse and the degree topics are all things im interested in so im hoping its for me but if not i always have options in the RAF as courses are offered to do other trades all the time, such as a scuba diving instructor qualification, which is just heaven to me so all in all i think its what i need and im really excited

My father was in the RAF and I have relatives now that are also RAF. I think I may have liked it myself but I dont think it would be something to consider unless you are really sure - hence my comment. But then Fleebee has maybe thought about this very carefully already so comment wasnt made to try and put her off

I know a cousin of mine was in the RAF for years and seemed to like it , each to their own but I wouldnt be cut out for that way of life.

It's an excellent thing for people who don't really have any direction and need someone to lead them into their lives. they basically brainwash you and make you do as they say. if you don't you get to run... a lot until you do it. then you run some more. until you never every question what they ask you to do again so they can trust you to do what you're told no matter what happens out in the field. it's a very stressful and hard job! the Air Force is the worst. there's no room for error and if you screw up they kick you out or give you a land job.

Don't forget that keep changing jobs looks awful on a CV - it looks like you can't stick at anything for long.

That's almost exactly what I was going to type StephB! Plus, you aren't so keen on dogs so I would have thought it would be the job from hell for you!!! Plus, why take a trainee post (and wage) when you are going to leave and not use the qualification? It would deny somebody else who wants to this job the chance.

i trained for 3 years to be a dog groomer, its not just a quickie course and you learn just as much as you do a vet nurse, its a big comitment and you have to keep a portfolio etc also, think hard as its a comitment for a long time, its hard , sweaty work and kills your back, you will also have to acquire some equipment too, all of which is not cheap,

the groomer one is the only one which is full time tho
