but I would say go for it..I think they are quite receptive to Uk applicants in general

It isnt accually the qualification I'm interested, just goes to show it is fessable!!! The American Association of Veterinary Radiologists do a couple of tech certs

Re: American Qualifications........

do you mean the AVECCTS qual? I know someone who is doing this and I am looking to do it in a couple of years. She collected about 150 caselogs in a period of a year. they only ask for 50 but reccommend you send in as many as possible so that you have enough if some dont make the grade. The case logs arent like out portfolio logs, they are very short, just documented the skills covered really. The 5 (?) case reports are longer. two sides of A4 I think. You have to cover a skills list several times (to prove competancy, not just having done it once). I know this list includes things like catheterising bitches and queens. There are some skills that we are not allowed to carry out (cant remember what they are) and you just have to state that you arent sallowed to legally do them. This is the same in some states so they are understanding of that.

Your caselogs have to be signed of ideally by a certified board specialist in ECC, but others qualify as there isnt that many of them yet.

Once submitted the board decide if you are good enough to enter. If you get into the exam then you have to do ? two papers, but they are long. The exams take place the day before IVEECS each year. Is hard, but worth it. I dont think being over here makes it too much harder, except the exams will have the american names for drugs, so it is worth studying from american textbooks as well as english to familiarise yourself with the drug names etc.

Sorry for essay!! especially if that isnt the qual you are talking about. Am really looking forward to it
