We have a few display boards which we try and update every month, we also try and decide in advance what we will advertise, so that if it's quiet we can start working o the following display.

I think the one that the clients most prefer is 'Pet of the Month', this is an animal that we have had in that has been through a lot. We try and have a mixture of surgical and medical cases and a range of species. For example we have had a dog that had an end to end anastomosis (2/3's of intestine removed and was touch and go), a cat with a pyothorax, a dog TTA, a dog that had to have its only remaining eye enucleated etc, etc...

We have just voted in the practice for pet of the year and gave the client a voucher for a free booster, a dog toy and a bottle of wine.

We have just done one especially for rabbits on housing / feeding/ fly strike/ vaccinations/ worming.

Also if you have any trainees in your practice, they usually love doing this sort of thing (mine do!) and they learn alot from it too. Inc lots of pictures to attract attention.

Re: Ideas for displays in the waiting room

Hi,

we have about 4 boards in the waiting room which we have different topics displayed on. Some of the things we have done displays on include:

- insurance, fleas, lungworm, heat wave ( keeping animals cool, no dogs in cars etc), fireworks, christmas hazards, vaccines, royal canin diets, pet smile month (dental), weight clinics.

we try to keep the displays informative but not too detailed so that people can get the jist of them by reading as they are standing at the desk or briefly before they go into their appointment. Pictures and photos are great. also ask reps for display material, alot of the companies produce specific display stuff for you to use.

hope this helps.
