Having started to feel much better since my blood pressure fiasco last week (see previous post) I managed to slip down a couple of the stairs to our cellar at work yesterday (courtesy of a vets gown

Re: Feeling like a walking disaster zone.

I got my foot caught in a bloody wire cat basket on thursday, fell splat on both knees after trying to hold onto the wall which I slid down

The crutches were in use for about 1 hour this morning, it was way to awkward to try and work while using one crutch - admitting patients all morning, cats in baskets, dogs on leads, the crutch was threw to the wayside and I spent the rest of the day hobbling!!

Painful, but much less hassle!!

Re: Feeling like a walking disaster zone.

hope everybody is feeling a bit better? - didnt post on this thread before because I didnt want to tempt fate (Caro knows my accident record)

here are some of my more notable attempts at self destruction

almost bleeding to death (not that much of an exaggeration - I did need top up blood) when I tripped over one of my cats and bit through a rather large vessel on the underside of my tongue when I landed.

Broken big toe when I accidentally kicked an o2 cylinder whilst attending a crash call.

whiplash when I was called out for an RTA dog one Christmas time and the taxi I was travelling in was written off by another vehicle. Got into work and had been there 10 mins tops and there was an almighty crash in front of the building and two other vehicles collided. Was the same police crew that attended my accident that attended the second - one of them told me ' Do us all a favour love - go home and stay there, your a bloody jinx'. Luckily he was laughing as he said it

Dont feel alone in the disaster zone you have plenty of company

Re: Feeling like a walking disaster zone.

It took a good week before I was coming home without being almost in tears and it being swollen up again but suddenely turned the corner on day 8 and apart from the odd twinge if I catch it at a funny angle, seems to be almost ok now. The bruising is still there (yellow, attractive!) and Im keeping it strapped up for support for a bit longer yet to be on the safe side but thank goodness the worst seems to have passed.

Sorry to hear about your knee - it's not the best job to be in with injuries is it?!

Re: Feeling like a walking disaster zone.

How are you feeling Dippy?

I had to go to a&e on friday night, I couldnt cope with the constant pain in my knee any longer, turns out I have a partial cruciate ligament rupture . We are so short staffed in work that I have no option only to keep going but today was soooo busy, I have had to resort to the crutches this evening.

I guess the crutches will be accompanying me at work tomorrow - ouch!!

Re: Feeling like a walking disaster zone.

Thanks for that. Have done pretty much zilch over the weekend and sat around as much as I can. Each time I get up in the morning, walking is a little easier already. My leg aches a bit higher up now but the actual pain in my foot is way better as long as I don't move it from side to side but up and down is ok in moderation so think it's on the mend slowly.

Re: Feeling like a walking disaster zone.

My advise would be to do what the Doctors say. I fractured my ankle 2 months into a new job, just having been off with German Measels (i was fine but couldn't risk infecting anyone)

I had it casted & carried on working. Result? 12 rather than 6 weeks in plaster, 6 weeks of phisio after & it still isn't right. you have to keep your health & well being for the rest of your life. A job can be changed tomorrow. Hope everything goes OK

Am feeling happier in myself today but thanks for the concern. Yes, it's in the accident book and I'm not on crutches, just strapped up and ordered to stay off it for a couple of days and then gentle gradual exercise including gentle walking (does 8hrs in theatre tomoron Monday class as gentle walking?)

Haven't managed to get to Tesco yet as other half doesn't drive but luckily we're invited out for dinner tonight so got that to look forward to and then a big lie-in tomorrow. I'll be ok, I can only do what I can do and that's that really so no point worrying about it.
