as albatross adviced i would speak to citizens Advice Bureau, and when you do remember to take your contract and any relevent paperwork with you. You can also get free legal advice from any insurance providers you use eg car/home and they may be able to help too.

Since th new holiday entitelment came in it isnt actually legal to pay staff in leu of holidays. you HAVE to have the legal entitlement, not sure if this applies in your case though. seems mighty odd to me!

Seems a bit unfair you wouldn't be able to take your holiday if its already booked, especially as you are working quite a long notice period already. Speak to your boss/PM and see if something can be sorted out so you wouldn't have to work any extra weeks to compensate for your holiday.

all i can say is 8 weeks notice is a long old time!

i have never had more then 4. i dont see the point if someone wants to leave why keep tem for an extra 4 weeks when they aint happy and aint goning to be working to there full potential as they dont want to be there.

I hope for what ever reason you are leavingthat the new job is what you are looking for. x x x

if you have 10 days or more holiday owing by the end of the 8 week notice period, then you are entitled to take those 10(+) days before you leave, or if they want you to work and you hadn't booked it they could pay you in lieu.
If you actually hadn't got enough holiday left and had booked it then they could ask you not to take the holiday, or worst case they would dock you money for the un-owed days.
As you say you have enough holiday for the part of the year you would have worked then there shouldn't be a problem.
Most people I know take the last week or few days as their remaining holiday - or are asked to work it and then get paid for it.
I've not heard of anyone having to unbook holiday where it was owed to them anyway
