truly shocking! i agree that some people i deal with do appear, for better want of a word, to be feral, and i feel for any children they may produce.

i was always brought up to respect your elders, and if, as a teenager i was bit naughty ( as all teenagers are), my parents usually knew about it by the time i got home, and i got punished! I would NEVER think to question the punishment - i was bad = punishment!!

i have a few mates who work with kids, and they say that more often than not, the parents will defend their kids bad behaviour, and have a go at the adult for suggesting their kid did anything wrong!!!???

crazy!

Re: bullying
Exactly Nick, I know what you mean.

Treat other people same as you would like to be treated.

It really saddens me the way society is going these days. When I was going out to discos etc - and it wasnt that terribly long ago there were no drugs around, or at least if there were, it was very hush hush and I never came across them - ever.
I agree wholeheartedly. I too was brought up in what I would call a very traditional fashion with respect to all creatures great and small being top of the agenda, no arguing, no 'bad' language, and punishmet that you believed in if you strayed out of line.

we have recently done a lot of charity work and I found myself going home and saying to my husband - i have had enough of those feral people and feel sorry for their lovely animals. Abuse it seems is becoming a normal method of communication - I am sorry Nick for what you had to witness and for the poor receptionist - that must have been awful

Re: bullying

Exactly Nick, I know what you mean.

As a child I never went to the vets. Now when peeps come for poss delicate admits I had children asking me questions!!!!

Then the other day we had a guy flip out in the waiting room saying where's my F'ing dog, get me my F'ing dog (right in the face of one of our receptionists), when she was left on her own he vaulted the desk and was running down the corridoors trying to find his dog! two of the vets finally got him a consult room and calmed him down althou think he was about to punch one of the vets in the face!!!

Funny things was he'd paid his bill and was just waiting to see the vet to discuss his dog's rads!! Turns out he was running late to pick up his daughter from school! Well why agree to come at the time offered, some people are stupid and have no respect!

You have to give respect to earn it!!!

Re: bullying

This may be a little off topic, but it got me thinking

My parents brought me up to respect everyone, if we ever needed the vet out to the family dog, we felt privilged that he came to our house, we made tea, made a fuss etc.

I was also brought up to respect the police, firemen and ambulance services, and our doctor etc etc

I in turn will pass these on to my children. I find it very sad the way the the young people nowadays have absolutely no respect for the emergency services - it must be really bad when they have an advertisement of tv about the attacks they suffer from.

Makes me really angry

Re: bullying

will have to chase this up - thought I might have heard something by now, dont know if there were any more meetings planned or this was a one off

Re: bullying

Will look forward to reading the full report. Bullying seems to more part of daily life now than ever before - part of me wonders wether it is partly due to seemingly less structured and strict up bringing, kids today appear to have no morals, no ethics and no manners or am I just getting old - and bullying type behaviour seems to be the method they use to get what they want. Parents give in so they learn that bullying works and on it goes into adult life. However, I had a very strict upbringing (ex army and police force) and was bullied at school from a very early age and was too frightened to tell anyone about it - especially my parents in case they were disapponted in me for being weak - the young mind is so complex! From school I was lucky enough to work in a supportive large corporate where yes there was bullying but it was nipped in the bud very quickly. Then I joined the veterinary profession (that was a shock in itself - where was the structure!!) - my first practice was generally a pleasure with a few people passing through who had obvioulsy learnt that to be the bully was the best for self preservation. When one of those people started talking about partnership i knew that it could only get worse and it was time to move. Unfortunately i have a psycological bully for a boss now - hence am planning my escape! I plan to interview my next prospective employer very carefully!!!!

I do try to tell myself that bullying is their weakness not mine - but when you are being worn down slowly by dissing remarks its hard not to feel the one in the wrong/ at fault.

I feel for anyone out there being bullied, in any of its forms it is horrible and can lead to illness. I look forward to reading the full report and hopefuuly gaining some advice...

Re: bullying

sound really interesting sal

Re: bullying

Mmmm.......... that would make very interesting reading Sal

Re: bullying

Very interesting Sal,
