My fiesta is called Georgina. My 106 was named by my sister when she owned it, it was called Marvin! Something to do with having a cuddly monkey in it called Marvin.

if your wanting a new car peugeot HDI 207 are good money wise, tax and insurance are low apparently

as for me i have a 106 for the mo and she is a beast i love her, very nippy and very cheap! i hope she wont break soon as i need to keep her for another 4 yrs until i hit 25 and i can get a subaru 2004 or 2006 :D as for the moment it would cost me £8000 to insure one went i get my suburoo roo im gona call him rupert :)

my 106 is called margeret as she has a dent on one of the rear wheel arches due to my brother, so she has a "dodgy hip"

anyone else have names for their cars?

I have such bad luck with cars!!!!

1st - Rover metro crashed it lol

2nd Fiat Brava - practically blew up!!!

3rd Ford Transit van Loved it - crashed it and couldnt afford the repairs :(

4th Ford Mondeo Someone else crashed it, was going to fix it but found other things wrong so scrapped it

5th Vauxhall corsa Had it a month, a friend looked it over and found £500 woth of repairs (and that was mates rates!!) otherwise would be mot failure, I only paid £500 for it so scrapped that

6th Renault Extra Van, Love this, although started to make a few noises so is booked in again with said friend fingers crossed.

Everyone says pay more for them and you will get better quality I paid £4000 for the fiat, and was still paying for ther loan 2 cars down!!! Im saving for an ex police dog van now.

My car is fixed Had a broken coil apparently. They also changed wiper blades (front and rear). £190 later it's all sorted!

I would also go with a car company that is still around ie making parts! MG/Rover have gone bust so car parts are rare and expensive!

Well took my car into garage this eve for them to have a look tomorrow...hopefully they'll get the prob sorted tomorrow without too much hassle!

MGF - dont have the best record for reliability, in fact may know somebody wanting to sell one (he reckons without exception it is the worst car he has ever owned - beating even a vauxhall Firenza and a Trabant and he bought both of these because they were quirky and knew their faults!)

Fingers crossed it's something simple and not too costly! I'm going to phone the Ford garage first thing in the morn and beg them to have a look asap! The head gasket went to my mum and dads old car...twice! The second time it happened they got rid of the car, wasn't worth spending the money on it. I've only have this car a year, so hope it doesn't start costing me too much already!

aw hope your fiesta gets better soon, b4 my ford ka iv always had fiestas..........love them! my bf car had that problem after some heavy rain the spark plugs got wet and it was like a slug, changed these and problem solved.However it could also mean that the gaskets are going (while Im not sue what these do I know it can be expensive to sort)

Hopefully just spark plugs after the horrid weather - good luck vicky!

I had a VW Lupo, I loved that car, then my brother killed it

I love Toyota, fantastic customer service (unlike my experience with VW), great cars and now some good deals to be had. Have fun with whatever you get

If you have someone to help you maintain the MG & you have somewhere safe to keep it, then go for it. I was brought up on old cars - learnt to drive in a Triumph Herald. Mum had an MG Midget & Dad had Astons & Healeys. If not, & you decide to go for something modern, you can't go far wrong with a Skoda. Used to have a Fabia & now got an Octavia 4x4. Both excellent cars, with the same quality build as VW/Audi, at a fraction of the cost!

Get a subaru or a honda, both fab cars or another VW

Subarus are fab to drive, and never break down.

What a pain Lesley, idiots!

On the subject of cars, mine is poorly She is a 55 reg fiesta, love driving her. My dad borrowed her last night & an engine warning light came on. Has been on since, and if you try to accelerate hard (ie when you pull on to a fast moving road) she is like a slug! Is a 1.4 so normally good at pulling away. Phoning the garage tomorrow, really hope they can see her soon! Before her had a L reg peugeot 106, had no probs at all! It's modern cars, too much to go wrong with them!!

I dont have any experience of these cars sorry, but while on about cars, I went to fill mine up with petrol yesterday and the petrol cap has been damaged!

Nightmare - someone trying to steal MY petrol (i presume), they didnt actually get any as they broke the cap off, but its been a pain in the bum as I reported it to the police and they said it was probably kids!

3 of my neighbours has had the sam problem.

On the brightside my dad is sorting it for me

My uncle had an MGF, which was utterly lush, but he did find it liked to break down on motorways......
