The actual Dyson mechanical part died both times (forgotten the fancy technical name!) and only Dyson can repair that bit and the callout was £75 plus the new part which added up to more than Henry so didn't bother the 2nd time. I guess it maybe depends on how heavy the useage is - I had 4 housecats and a dog at the time and we'd also had major building work done on the house twice so were hoovering up concrete/plaster dust for months afterwards both times so it got a fair old battering!

Re: vac cleaner

i would disagree on the dyson front mine is brill all come with 5yr gaurantee (not that i have had to use mine) and are easy to clean, dont need bags etc. My mum has had hers for ten years and all she has ever needed is a new belt that cost £5. They are also mega easy to take to pieces. Oh and mine fell down the cellar steps and still works lol. You also get some nice cleaning tools that are good for sofas and curtains etc.

Re: vac cleaner

Henry. No frills, used by builders and the like. Have tried various "pet hair" vacs over the years and they always give up after a couple of years. Man in the vac shop recommended Henry 4yrs ago and have never looked back. No fancy mechanisms like Dyson etc to go wrong and classed as light industrial (which my little man in shop said regular animal hair use should be classed as!) Around £90 online/Argos etc for the traditional red one. Plus he smiles at you whilst hoovering
