There's a pretty little village called Lefkara on the way there from the east side where they do all the lace making although a bit over commercialised these days.

Vicky, do you mean Omodos village? That's on the way to the mountains from the Paphos side and is very quaint and traditional? There's a bit old church at one end of the main street and they make fresh cinnamon bread there everday (yum!)

If you're not hiring a car and want to see a but of the island, a "see Cyprus in a day" coach trip's quite good as takes in several of the sights. There are lots of historical buildings (monasteries etc) depending what floats your boat and the usual waterparks etc if you're more of a beach babe. A word of warning though, if you don't want to see all the strays and dead bods (dogs) at the side of the motorway, keep your eyes closed!!! (See previous posts re animal cruelty in Cyprus). And if you do get upset by it all, please go and visit Argos Animal Sanctuary in Larnaca and give them a couple fo euros

Re: Cyprus

We've been a few times and always stayed near Paphos. Can't remember the name of the village we stayed in. The mountains near us were nice to take a driver up and have a wonder round...can't remember what they are called either, i'm a lot of good aren't i! Dippy may be able to help. They were maybe called the white mountains?! On the way up there was a lovely little place where they were cooking meat on a bbq, full of locals. We stopped for food. There were big long tables and they welcomed us even though we were the only tourists there. The food was simple but delicious!

Re: Cyprus

Fig Tree Bay is our favourite whenever we go!

There are some nice beaches in Famagusta, they are in front of bombed out hotels, which is a bit odd, but they are nice apart from that!
