I left school in 79 without ever collecting certs. I had to send off for them for college enrolement. Cant remember where but your college will tell you. It also cost £60.00. Still I have them now after 30 yrs and they didnt take long to arrive. Suprised they could find them after all that time. I think they must have had to chase away spiders and cobwebs :-)

I dont know if theres a difference between svn and ana as in interview at college, but its the ana am doing and i had an interview, am also in scotland dont know if that makes a difference either. Good luck x

Not sure - the girl who called me didn't really say much. Just that it'd be an interview and that there would be a maths and English test. Don't even know where I'm going when I get there!

Thanks. Just realised how unprepared I am. I'm really worried now. I've had such a full on week and have worries at home too so I'm just completely shattered. I think I'm going to screw it up now

I'm now in the same boat. The VNAC I'm using has just been given my enrolment form but says the RCVS may throw it out because I gave the VNAC my original O and A level results from 1978/1980 which were only a computerised slip of paper with all results on it.. We never had certificates in those days.
However I have a much more recent HND in Animal Management which is higher than the recommended alternative of a BTEC ND... but this seems to e being ignored.

Anyone ever got round the lack of certificates problem?
Anyone used an HND as an alternative or more recent qualifcation to O/A levels or GCSEs?

Oh, and my VNAC is not the same as the college I will go to for the course. That college was where I did the HND and have accepted me back without any problem.

You don't need to take your certs until enrolement day chick! They'll take scans of the certs to hold on file. If you don't bring them/can't find them its not a prob as long as you explain why they'll still let you start! x

See, that's why I was surprised at having to go to an interview. Thought once you got your placement that was that. I think they just want to meet me and make sure I'm commited etc

Do you think i'll need to take certs to the interview? Panic!!!

Depending on when you left school you may need to do key skills in English and numeracy. Nothing to worry about (lots of help sites online to assist with these) but they are pretty much standard.

I don't know of any colleges asking for interviews before going on the VN course, especially if it is being arranged through your practice. When I trained, I was told which college I would be attending and just make sure I was there!

I never took my gcse certs with me, as I hadnt a clue where they were! Its all pretty informal stuff at the interview and they show you around the college. The maths and english tests are easy enough, there just to pick up on your strenghts and weaknesses to see if you need any help with anything. I start in August so I must have done something right haha x

Ahhhh - I'm not sure whether my GCSE certificates are seeing as it was sooooo long ago - and not sure where my letter is either - gulp. I have the manager down as a referee though so do you think this will be good enough? x
