Sorted thanks Arlo.. l put in my own P code in and it worked. Took 10 pages of code off good grief it puts a lot in doesn't it.

The first time round (post l deleted experimenting this manuover) the p code was not in the correct place and left the code in.

OK have discovered the answer:

When you click the clipboard icon with the W on it, and paste text from Word, it SHOULD strip unnecessary code. It always has when I use it, not sure why it isn't for you. Perhaps down to an old version of Word.

However, if this does NOT work, click the HTML icon, and you'll see all the extraneous code. Delete everything up to the opening <p> just before the text you want to appear. That will cure it.

Well, I just don't know what that code is, or why it is being pasted into your replies. Will investigate further.

Green verify box. If you specificy that a thread is a question, then it is highlighted as such in the list of recent topics. Then, when someone replies, you or anyone else can suggest it is the correct answer to the question. If you agree it is, then you can verify it.

This:

a) helps people get to the correct reply to an original question when the subsequent discussion goes on for many posts (the correct answer is always published at the top).

b) adds extra member points for the person whose answer was verified as correct.

Ok above sentese was a copy and paste l may have used cut and paste before see if that makes a difference thats only thing l can think off.

By the way what's the green verify box about?

Did l tick question and if l do tick verify and it turns red what does that imply?

I am also totally confused. I wrote the test sentence out and copyied it that was all.

That line of code keeps appearing. It says microsoft internet explorer4

I do not know where that comes from l use firefox for everything. As to the rest l do not have the foggiest

Another strange thing is that if l go into edit to try and remove the code... the words are not there? They only show on the final posted post. Do not show on the pre post either before l hit Post.

Which means code is coming in from somewhere and part of the message and not just an ambient thing.

Also on a separate thing but still connected. When l am hitting enter here it is skipping a blank line.

I can not get this sentence to go from here to directly under the one about skipping a blank line unless l do follow on typing. (does that make sense?)

This is a test copy and paste as well with no codes added.

Hope this is working. I'm using openOffice as well to type this.

Caro, I just wrote the sentence in my last post in microsoft word, and then pasted it into the clipboard thing and it worked fine, so I am not sure what is going on here.

Actually, I have never seen this added to a post before:

All the clipboard thing does is strip out formatting code (i.e. font size etc) from text in word and other applications so it appears correctly on this site.

I really need to know exactly what you are copying and pasting here!

Nope still got code showing deleted last post to double check l had used the correct icon to load it, l had. (the little clipboard with the W in front of it)
