New assessors/less experienced SVNs are often considered 'high risk' which sounds bad, but really it means that more consideration is spent IV'ing and generally checking you and the assessor are both managing okay.

Re: 1st year porfolio hell!!!!

I would also suggest you, your assessor and your iv sitting down together. Sounds like there is a problem with how you are doing things and you certainly don't want to be wasting your valuable time on assessments that aren't going to count.

Time-wise, you need to get your assessments checked by your assessor within 2 weeks, and then if you are high risk, probably every 6 weeks or so by your IV. It is your responsibility as student to get the work to them.

See if you can get hold of a completed portfolio so that you can see how things are best covered.

Re: 1st year porfolio hell!!!!

Hi

Im sorry your having a hard time with your portfolio. Is your assessor a trainee? is another assessor counter signing her work? Could you ask them for advice?

Do you have any new qualifieds in your practice who have first hand experience of the portfolio?

You could arrange a meeting with your IV (Internal Verifier) from your college to sit down and talk through the portfolio with you

Dont worry its not as scary as it seems when you get the hang of it.

If you need any advice I'm sure anyone on here would be more than happy to help answer any questions!

Chin up and you will get there x
