We had around 30+ inpatients l lost track all rooms full or occupied to some degree. My 4am obs when l was finaly sole nurse other nurse goes 03:30 ended up taking about 2 hrs each morning. I was so tired l couldnt get my self moving. Mind you that included phone call breaks and recpetion to book in or take payments. Then end that and start 6am stats but was less as 4am is all patients 6am is my criticals only so thats about +/- 30mins.

We're not the only busy ones then. From friday to sunday eve we have had 7 collapsed animals. Might not sound much but it is a lot for us and we are only a relatively small practice. 5 survived though which was good! Had all wierd and wonderful cases in

I worked 2 weekends ago and we were absolutely dead, I was gardening outside the practice all day on the sunday. Think I jinxed it by saying I hoped it was busier.

My weekend hasnt flown by, been working and been really busy. Been one of those weekends where you work and sleep and thats it! Worked a total of 24 hrs out of the 48 and was back in at 8 this morning

Got the weekend off now but just want to slob in front of tv!

Oh yes Nick that is SO true...worked this weekend from 8am sat till 6pm sun...so pleased to be off today!

it's a new government ruling to save daylight hours/electricity usage etc - weekends are now 35 hours long instead of the usual 48.

But if it make you feel better - think about me - this is my last weekend off as from Thursday I start a new job (yippee, as a SVN ), and will work EVERY weekend unless I take holiday as my working week is Thursday to Sunday. Then I will work at my low income clinic job on Monday afternoons,making my "weekend" Tuesday and Wednesday except when I start college in September and I will have Tuesday as my only complete day off.

Going to be a bit of a culture shock for someone who hasn't worked full time since 2001, who normally goes to about 6-8 chinchillas shows on Sundays throughout September-April, and who does boot fairs, charity stalls, and visits fetes etc during most summer weekends. But it's a sacrifice I'm prepared to make in order to finally start my training officially.
