we have had no problems with lapinject, the benefits over cylap are

only 0.5mls required (verus 1ml - alot in a teeny bun)

6 days immunity onset (versus 21 days)

much longer expiry date (i always find fort dodge vaccines a bit too short)

It's not unusual for any animal to be slightly quiet for 24hrs or so after a vaccine. As Vicky sad obviously priority in bunnies is that they keep eating ok.

Common vaccine reactions (in my experience) that I warn bunny owners about are a small bald patch/scab at the site of injection, seems to happen more with cylap than myxo (I've not used lapinject so can't comment), also a few bunnies seem to have a transient joint swelling for a few days after cylap leading to a little joint pain/lameness, I've given 2 bunnies metacam for a few days for this and now warn all owners to watch for it and have had a few more reports from owners. VHD is a calicivirus, and feline calicivirus can cause polyarthritis, so I don't know if there's some link there, this is all anecdotal.

[/quote]Thankyou for this piece of information - had a owner with a lame bunny on Friday , Had cylap the day before! I just told her to keep it restrict and to come in Monday if no improvement. Will ring her tomorrow to check.

Re: VHD Vaccination side effects?

Ah good glad she's still eating ok. It sounds like she's just feeling a bit off colour.

Re: VHD Vaccination side effects?

Hi Vicky,

Yeah she's eating fine. She's had more than normal today as she's only a mere 0.46kg and I think she needs beefing up a bit (don't worry - I haven't given her looooooads). Maybe she's digesting? It's just odd, she's been sat on my lap for 25 mins now which is so unlike her. I guess if she's eating then that's a good thing. Maybe she's just settled down at last. She has been proper mental since we've had her.

Re: VHD Vaccination side effects?

It's not unusual for any animal to be slightly quiet for 24hrs or so after a vaccine.
