If you haven’t already discovered the Veterinary Internal Medicine Nursing podcast, I thoroughly recommend it - it’s the highlight of my Friday!

Really interesting topics - some commonly seen, others much less so - really clearly broken down, with helpful suggestions on actually giving nursing care to these patients. Laura is a wonderful communicator and I’ve learnt masses from her, even though some of it is a bit over my head at this stage of my studenting!

I found that once I had it explained to me in a way that I was able to follow the steps I just practices using the same system of calculations. Get each Nurse in you clinic to go though a series of calculations with you and see which way you find the easiest and write done the formulation/steps so you can follow it yourself when ever you need to do a calculation. Laminate a note card and keep in it your pocket.

its really clear and simple to read, I always carry mine. I also carry a calculator with the calculations written on in sharpie so you always have them on you super easy to hand.

Hi,

Have you tried "Calculations for Veterinary Nurses" a book by Margaret C. Moore, ? I had this when I was starting out in Veterinary Nursing. Also the website https://www.veterinaryinternalmedicinenursing.com has a good piece on this ! Maths isn't my strong point and these resources have helped me :0)
