I know I've failed at least 2. As well as those 2, I forgot to shake/mix the bottles of drugs before use, and I ran out of time on nearly every one! I think I got away with my radiography

RE: Messed up OSCES?

Hi Amy

Oh bless you, it is a horrible feeling that I remember all too well. By the time I got my results I had convinced myself I had failed all of them.

It’s not easy to put them to the back of your mind but whether you have passed or not, has no reflection on you as a nurse. It only shows that you struggle with the pressure under exam conditions.

I know it will be frustrating but you can retake them and going forward, no one is going to ask you, the amount of times it took to pass. All they will be interested in is whether you are an RVN.

Try as much as you can to take some time to relax and then if your fears are true, you can start revising and practicing again and enter the OSCEs when you are ready.

Remember, you are a great nurse, you do these skills on a regular basis in practice and do whatever helps you manage anxiety. What helped me was pretending the examiner was a new SVN, and I was being asked to show her how to do certain tasks. It took the fear away slightly.

Cried for the rest of the day on the sofa! After the long wait, found out I'd actually passed. As much as you can, put it to the side. What is done is done and you may even surprise yourself. Have faith
