So, what better time to find out a bit more about your career goals? I am seeking RVNs/SVNs to respond to a survey investigating their career goals to offer insight

RE: What are your career goals?

I have completed the survey. My goal is to do an advanced certificate in anaesthesia and to one day be a head nurse. I have been one previously but stepped down when I had my daughter.

RE: What are your career goals?

I can only hope these things work in my favour, but either way will make the most of things. I have an open mind and am aware of most of the downfalls of working in veterinary care and being a nurse and still here training....

The direction things move over the coming years will be very interesting with lots of potential changes in the pipeline be them good, bad or indifferent.

RE: What are your career goals?

Hi John Woodward thanks for that, and interesting!

I agree, long term goals probably difficult at the moment with so much uncertainty over CMA and legislation, but I do think that these things will probably act in your favour.

I mean, with the cost of veterinary care having spiralled over and above inflation in recent years, perhaps the more effective use of vet nurses will be one of the few ways that those costs can be reduced - even if nurses have to be paid more!

Not sure protecting the title will make much difference, though.

RE: What are your career goals?

Hi Arlo, mine are simple.... I am just finishing the end of my first year of training (mature degree student), so my aspirations are all based on short term goals, enjoying my placement year, qualifying and seeing from there. I do have experience from pre hospital human healthcare so currently thinking ECC as the long term goal but with CMA investigation, protect the title campaign(?legislation amendments) and the like who knows where we will be in a few years so will focus on the short term goals and go with the flow a little for now.

RE: What are your career goals?

Antone want to share what their career goals are?!

RE: What are your career goals?

Done x

RE: What are your career goals?

All done.

RE: What are your career goals?

I’ve tried to complete it a couple of times and got an error message on submission - something about a question not being complete.
And of course there is the difficult question of how career progression fits with the difficult time the profession is having at the moment with the above inflation increases in the cost of veterinary care, and the Competitions and Markets Investigation.

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts ...
