Does anyone have a copy of the requirements to become a nurse training practice/aTP? Potentially going through the CAW programme soon for ease but we need to know if we'd qualify as a TP or aTP beforehand if possible, and nowhere seems to

RE: What are the requirements for being a Training Practice?

we have not long signed up as a training practice and it wasn't too painful, college came out and assessed us and the practice. They gave us a list of things we had to do and a couple of things we didn't have like an endoscope, just give them an idea of how we would meet requirements or secondment of student to a practice with one.

Clinical coach needed to be up to date. If your practice has practice standards attainment then you are more than half way there.

RE: Training Practice Requirements?

Ah, well that explains why there isn't a handy list available on the RCVS website somewhere! Thank you for chasing this for me

RE: Training Practice Requirements?

Robyn - I've had an answer from the College for you.

So according to our standards framework (the current iteration that is, not the one we’re consulting on) it’s largely up to the Accredited Educational Institutions (AEIs) to determine the particular standards for their delivery centres and training practices, albeit working within the ambit of our standards framework.

Here’s the link to the current standards: Introduction - Professionals (rcvs.org.uk)

Here’s the relevant section from the introduction explaining how it works:

AEIs are responsible for working with centres and training practices to manage the quality of their educational programmes. Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the quality of any educational programme lies with an AEI in partnership with centres and training practices who provide opportunities for clinical experience (placement or employed) to veterinary nursing students.

Bottom line - looks like you would need to get that info from the CAW.

RE: Training Practice Requirements?

I'm still waiting on a reply from the College, but expecting one soon.

RE: Training Practice Requirements?

You local Vnac should be able to email you what their requirements are.
