Incidentally, while I am here, can I encourage you all to sign up for the VetNurse Digest here, which sends a regular update of questions - like this one - asked by other nurses, which you might be able to help with, or might yourself be interested to know the answer to.

I'm really trying to encourage RVNS to use vetnurse to get definitive answers to your questions (as opposed to Facebook, where it's often difficult to tell if someone actually knows what they are talking about!)

It's a minefield. I did cover some of this in an article for Companion. A useful tip is that usually the colour of the packets is consistent for each chemical composition (eg Vicryl equivalents are all purple)

Sorry no but if you ask the manufacturer they should be able to send you out a brochure which lists the suture materials, sizes and needle style available in their range. We are using the NVS Q-close vet range. If you are making a list of all the different materials I can send you what these ones are.
