I find it a bit uncomfortable that the first reason cited is The reasons are: above average increases in veterinary salaries,
when some jobs are still advertised barely above minimum wage, and not a word about payments to share holders, and corporates who describe themselves as Equity Funds

If you were looking at that submission, I am curious what you think about the investigation into above average increases in the cost of vet care, and the fact that vets and nurses salaries STILL have a way to go before they are in line with other professions. In other words, if the competition & market authority are investigating now, what on earth will happen if and when vet and vet nurse salaries go up further? And what will it do to pet ownership?

This might help it’s from a survey August 2022 though, so a little out of date now but gives you an idea:

‘For locum nurses, those on zero hours contracts were paid the highest at £22.47, followed by those working through umbrella companies at £21.80, while self employed sole trader locums were paid £21.00 and locums working via their limited company were paid £20.83. ‘ (recruit4vets.co.uk blog post: Staying in the know: 2022 Veterinary Salaries Report)
