A few years ago I had totally fallen out with nursing, had started dreading going to work and felt like all I did was nurse critical patients many of whom didn't make it so I switched to reception. I still enjoy reception but am starting to get frustrated

RE: Should I go back to nursing?

Have you thought of doing something different in the profession such as referral?

RE: Should I go back to nursing?

I took a four year break from nursing after a practice really made me lose any love for the profession.

The reason I went back is that I was asked last minute to cover a shift at my town's OOH service. I did one shift and realised I missed nursing, so I put myself back on the register and took some more OOH shifts while I looked for a job in nursing.

It was difficult finding a job as I had been out of it for so long, you've at least still been working in the veterinary industry so you may not find it as hard as I did.

I was worried about going back, thinking I may have forgotten everything after 4 years out of it but turns out you never forget some stuff. Placed an IV cath on my first try on my first day and was ecstatic!
