The only thing I had left to fight with was the half of the broom handle that it hadnt already destroyed. It had been given domesedan ( horse sedative very large amount) and we had taken it down the yard because basically it was nearer the freezer. We had shut it in the euth room until the dom took effect - had gone in to do the deed - and this dog went ballistic!! and the 3 of us scattered. Very very unpleasant - I have never forgotten it! We waited until this dog wandered into one of the outdoor runs and then managed to shut it in and then darted it. I am in no doubt that if this dog had got hold of any of us it would have killed us.

It was also very unpleasant having to pm this dog afterwards and retrieve what was left of the drugs it had taken as police evidence. (- there were a number of dealers in the area that if they got raided had trained the dogs to eat the evidence, they usually had more than one dog and these dogs were always bloody nasty.) very sad life for the dog

Another practice same area was asked to help euth another ridgeback x mastiff. The owner said he was moving into a flat and had tried to rehome but wasnt able - he assured us it was a nice dog ( I had my doubts) didnt want to stay while we euthed it - was very upset (I think this probably was genuine) and to be honest we all felt for him. We gave the sedative with a muzzle on and then the owner took it off to kiss the dog goodbye! couldnt get near it afterwards to remuzzle. Very unpleasant euthanasia. The police contacted us later to ask if he had brought the dog in - it had bitten 5 people putting 2 of them in hospital.

Re: Very bad dog!

Only dog I was ever bitten by was a cocker spaniel, it bit me, and took its time in letting go as it ragged my hand about, then bit the vet....it had cocker rage.
