Does anyone know if there is a minimum amount of hours you need to do each year carrying out nursing duties in order to stay on the register or is it just as long as I've done my cpd?

Julie-Anne Wilson actually, it's just the second of those things at the moment! They can't actually remove you from the register for not doing CPD (unless as part of the disciplinary process).

There is a recommendation in the RCVS Legislative Reform Consultation for introducing the need for revalidation (https://www.rcvs.org.uk/news-and-views/our-consultations/legislation-working-party-report/part-5-modernising-rcvs-registration/) and making revalidation dependent on CPD.

RE: Is there a minimum amount of hrs needed to do as an RVN in order to stay as an RVN?

I think as long as you've covered your CPD and paid your dues, you stay on the register. They can't penalise people for not working enough hours or any hours for that matter. Plenty in this career are off a lot due to stress and plenty off longterm on illness.

I was on the register for a while without being employed as a vet nurse when I was coming back to nursing and I just made sure to do CPD.
