We are looking at re addressing our biosecurity and had a look on the Bella Moss Foundation web site for washing temperatures. We are now strugging getting through our mound of washing

RE: Washing Temperatures

:) ok so my laundry enthusiasm isn't widely shared. I got bit over excited there. :( Does that make me a bad person

RE: Washing Temperatures

Hi. One of my previous lives was in the Technical R & D dept of a commercial research laundry company. Above 40 degrees. 60 is good. Also in- out tunnel is best or wash-degradable bags or or throughly clean and disinfect the entire top, mouth and lid and drum before removing the washing so you aren't reinfecting the laundry when you pull it out over the top of the machine :) x

I wouldn't rely on a tumble dryer

RE: Washing Temperatures

The majority of the time the washing machine won't get to the temperature on the dial. From a biosecurity point of view tumble drying (not on low temp) after washing (with a suitable disinfectant if appropriate) is the best way :-)

RE: Washing Temperatures

If you have an industrial machine then it's easier because they get to temperature in much less time but unfortunately as I've discovered, convincing a boss to buy one even though they're complaining there's no washing, is almost impossible. I think we did nearly everything on 60 and it takes over 3 hours in a regular home machine (just to point out, the warranty on regular machines isn't valid it's used in a business)

RE: Washing Temperatures

I like to wash all bedding, mop heads, cloths etc at 60 degrees just in case!
