&lt;p&gt;Your student needs 60% of portfolio done by the time they appy for exams. They need the portfolio completely signed off before they can apply for the practicals.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have a level 3 student who has almost finished her portfolio but as she enrolled late she wont have enough hours to sign off her portfolio. You can do your practicals first it just depends on completion date of portfolio.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A student at my practice is taking her writtens in dec, and practicals in march.&lt;/p&gt;
