Thanks evereyone - VDS only do crinimal and disciplinary cover fro nurses now and its a flat £55 a year even if i only needed it for three weeks and theres no part time option.Its ok though as the practice have now said theyll put me on theirs. I have asked for a Towergates quote too though. Thanks!

VDS do cover for 1 or 2 days a week or whatever. They do for vets anyway, can't see why it would be different for nurses.

never used them for vet nursing but used them for my therapy insurance - towergates, think it used to be about £80 a year for a million pounds cover

Have a look at or message molly fiander the locum nurse she will be able to tell you exactly what you need whether you are working for umbrella, as a sole trader or ltd. she is both on facebook and instagram!

most practices should have locum cover in their policy

As far as I'm aware when I was a locum I only had vds cover.

Most practices have insurances that cover you for som things but you could always phone vds and speak to them I have always found them very helpful in the past.
