Have had a few clients recently who have cancelled their PHP 3-6 months after joining and have received products and benefits far exceeding the amount of monthly subscriptions paid.

A) Have to pay the difference in what they have paid vs what they have taken/had

B) Get a refund if they have taken less than they have paid.

At my practice we had a spate where owners were cancelling very quickly after signing up (no fault of their own/suddenly moved etc.) and had not read the agreement properly. Now it is mentioned every time somebody is filling out the form.

RE: Pet Health Plan Cancellations

Thanks Carolyn

RE: Pet Health Plan Cancellations

It usually states in the contract that it's an annual agreement. I used to invoice them, showing the cost of treatments they had already received minus the payments they had made. I then worked out if it was cheaper for them to pay the difference or to pay the remaining installments, either by reinstating the plan for the remainder of the year or by making a one-off payment to us. Contractually we didn't have to do that but it seemed fair, it's how I would like to be treated. We had a few grumbles but generally they paid up. If they were cancelling because their pet had died then we didn't ask them for any additional payments.
