I did 3 years of the 5 year course.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I can tell you that being academic is absolutely essential I&amp;#39;m afraid. It is on another level to the nurse course, I really can&amp;#39;t describe how it was. We started our first year with 120 students and had 100 by the end. Lost about 10 in second year. It&amp;#39;s an intense course.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As for being older, no worries on that score. There was lots of older students that had done previous degrees, previous careers and also foreign students too.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I personally felt that i enjoyed animal husbandry and being with the patients, which is not what the vets do. I also felt surgery was not for me at all. I feel they are treated much worse than nurses (not being paid for overtime which is a regular occurrence, on call after 12 hour days at work etc, being expected to not have lunch breaks, just crack on doing stuff they&amp;#39;re not confident doing .. the list goes on and on).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
