If so, under what circumstances? As an owner and a nurse I would want to be with my pets at this time and where possible we are managing that. We are doing our utmost to make things work and where possible and, where safe, we have increased the number of home visits for euthanasia's. The practice is small and the layout makes it logistically impossible not to put what staff we have left at risk. If we had a way to allow them to enter bypassing the reception or even an area we could designate for 1 to 1 consults during this time we would gladly and willingly accommodate.

On a slightly different note - I feel for everyone at this time. We are only a small practice but we are a busy one. Like most we are running on skeleton staff and still very busy on the phones. Like everyone else we have had to adapt along the way, deal with our own worries as well as our clients worries about the virus and everything that means. We have had our fair share of angst and abuse throughout the last 6 weeks but all in all our staff and clients have been troopers and I am grateful to say that I don't believe we have experienced the abuse to the extent that I have heard and read about in other practices. That is truly awful and I sincerely hope you are all doing ok. Keep safe everyone and lets hope we can get back to some form of normality soon x

RE: Another Covid19 question..

Happy having people inside for PTS. I personally don't think it's acceptable to take the animal away to PTS.

Once we deem it safe we will go back to how things were. I can't see any workable half measure in a consulting room

RE: Another Covid19 question..

We are not allowing any clients in the building at the moment. We did discuss and start having them in the building for PTS only and the logistics of how we go about that but it was short lived. Now we sedate the pet with the clients in their car and bring them in once the pet asleep. So far our clients have appreciated and accepted this. How is everyone protecting themselves and what precautions are being talked about or being put in place for the near future. I am keen for the practice to consider installing some form of screen as they have in the shops and supermarkets but that only protects us at reception. What are peoples thoughts on protection once clients are allowed back in the building?

RE: Another Covid19 question..

we have had people in the building - but has only been for PTS or dire emergency and only in one area of the building well away from everybody else, I have assisted with 2 of them. I'm as careful as I can be. I'm pretty philosophical with this virus. I don't think my panicking will help anybody when there are so many others doing it so much better than I can.

Don't get me wrong I'm not ignoring advice I am just trying to keep things as normal and low risk as I can. .

RE: Another Covid19 question..

We are currently not letting people into the surgery, mostly doing phone consult and then handing dog over for assessment. We've not had to do any euthanasia's yet, not quite agreed on a strategy for now.

We're still seeing members of the public not follow isolating rules: in one instance, a clients family member was apparently self isolating (suspected to be infected) but the rest of the family felt it was appropriate to try and come to the appointment.

RE: Another Covid19 question..

Not as yet, but would if PTS, sick in patient or OOH.

I'm not sure what basis the idea of keeping them outside has. Especially when I then go to Tesco and they let 100 people in at once. My view would be limit to 6 in the waiting room (could easily keep them 2m apart) but I bowed to staff pressure and only let people into the porch to collect drugs.

So much for evidence based medicine
