Good query, possibly there's a nurse out there who hadn't thought of that...

Mine's made of tough nylon and webbing and gets washed weekly (or as needed if contaminated) and wiped down daily after every shift with Anistel wipes... it's still going strong. I do put it in a tied up pillow case to wash in the machine, to avoid damage.

Similarly, contents are checked, cleaned and kept in good nick.

Who wouldn't do this?!?!?!!?!!!??!? Xxx

Edit**

Same applies to uniform, shoes et al... All fomites, so needs must be sanitised.
this is why if I have to use something like this I prefer a bum bag - much smaller, more compact, can get a lot less in it - which to me is a good thing, essentials only which for me is a couple of swabs (yes 2! in a wrapper, small roll zinc oxide or vetwrap one or the other not both, pair of scissors, silver nitrate stick, a pen and a 2p coin to open the disabled loo in case the alarm goes off)and this will all fit in my uniform pocket anyway now. Anything else is in the building and if i'm organised is exactly where I need it- I already have a handbag which friends joke will double as an emergency shelter with essential supplies for all eventualities for a couple of months for a few people - at work I am a lot more minimalist, I am carrying enough of my own weight without carrying extra

RE: Nurse pouch

James Colver Cert.
Why do I need to justify why I want to wear something - I just do. If it's such a "daft idea" then why are there multiple companies out there manufacturing them!
You don't have to justify anything. I have one of our nurses in secret Santa and wondered about getting her one (if they are useful), but I thought they looked a bit daft so was looking for feedback. Without going off topic it would have been easy for people to say they loved one and got it from X and answer both questions.

Sorry to annoy you, I thought it was a reasonable question!

RE: Nurse pouch

Rachel Woodcock

Hey peeps, peace and all... I have a foot in both camps. I like a pouch and have saved the day many times with my Mary Poppins like "here we go" ability to produce whatever it is is needed pdq. Also, as a locum it means I know where things are (very useful, speedy and I keep the equipment up to sharp scratch).

On the other hand... It has got in my way 'flapping about' when I have had to restrain a patient and so it gets discarded or swung around to the back dangling nastily near my bum cheeks... Not a good look or feeling when you sit on it having forgotten it was there, lol.

If it suits. Use. If it doesn't. Don't.

If you want one, have a fun one with an interesting design. Like the design of socks I sometimes choose to wear, I can show my personality a bit, whereas my plain uniform speaks of my professional standing.

Yes?

Happy forthcoming Christmas folks!!
We would have scissors/forceps/thermometers/pens in grabbing distance in prep, consulting rooms, kennels etc. I've never wished I was closer to a pair of scissors in the practice. In places like prep magnetic strips on the wall keep things neat and to hand.

I have scissors, forceps, pens, thermometer, watch, etc in mine. Most of which can be affected or become magnetic in the magnetic field. So, in theory it’s a health and safety concern to have one

RE: Nurse pouch

found them handy when lone working at night - but most of the time what I need can fit in my uniform pocket because anything else I need will be available in the room i am working in
