I've noticed that too....our practice has had to find varying members of staff-nurses and Vets and most are coming through agencies....with agency finding fees to boot!

Funnily enough my boss said the other day what happened to flooding the industry with your c.v?

I personally remember doing that 10+ years ago looking for a job!

Yes I noticed that. I wondered whether it's largely because of corporatisation. Unlike independents, corps will have more jobseekers visiting their own websites, so they will get a better response from that than an independent would from their website. So as more independents have been swallowed up, so less jobs are being advertised widely, and more are being advertised directly by the corporates.

Sure, but I suspect the situation is very different for a more urban or city practice.

Well, I always remember my first advertiser decided to do both VR and VetSurgeon, and I was very chuffed that I filled the position for £99. Sadly I didn't save him anything because he had already blown the, what, £1000 down the road with VR. But he learned for the next time!

Rather simply - I've never advertised for a qualified nurse as I'd rather train my own. Local connections are valuable. We are a relatively unique practice in that we use the nurses for large and small animal work. I also don't think the wage justifies moving your whole life half way across the country. I'd rather advertise on Facebook and find a local girl to put through college (each time we have advertised we've had a lot of good quality applicants).

Vets I still would use a paper advert in the VR (sorry Arlo).
