Does anyone have a formula that they use to work out the calorie requirements for dogs, and then work out the calorie intake on their current food? (Hills food only obviously, but Metabolic is brilliant). Just google Quick reco :) its pretty simple to do but if you need a run-through your hills rep will go through it with you.

RE: Weight loss in dogs

I use the MER for their target weight. However by reducing the amount of their "normal" food you risk reducing the intake of the macro and micro nutrients that they require so you end up with an animal being deficient, however if they only need to reduce by a small amount I would try this, anything that is BCS 8 and 9 out of 9 is definitely requiring a specific weight loss diet.

RE: Weight loss in dogs

Thank you!

RE: Weight loss in dogs

I cheat and use the PFMA website!
